Krishi Nivesh
In a significant push toward modernising India’s agriculture ecosystem, the Government of India has expanded the Krishi Nivesh Portal to become a unified digital platform that integrates agricultural investment schemes from both the Central and State governments. This initiative aims to simplify access to opportunities, improve transparency, and unlock much-needed capital for farmers, agribusinesses, and investors across the country.
What Is the Krishi Nivesh Portal?
Launched by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare in 2024, the Krishi Nivesh Portal is designed as a centralised investment and information hub for the agriculture and allied sectors. Instead of information on government schemes being scattered across multiple departments and ministries, the portal brings everything under a single digital roof.
At present, the portal features 17 flagship agricultural schemes, including:
- Agriculture Infrastructure Fund
- Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund
- PM Kisan Sampada Yojana
- PM-KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan)
These schemes cover support for infrastructure, renewable energy adoption, value-addition, and financial assistance.
Why Integration Matters
Before the portal’s enhancement, farmers, entrepreneurs, and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) often faced a confusing maze of schemes spread across different ministries and state departments. This fragmentation created challenges such as:
- Difficulty in finding relevant schemes
- Slow progress on loan disbursements
- Lack of coordination between departments
Krishi Nivesh tackles these challenges by acting as a single access point for discovering and applying to schemes, tracking application status, and monitoring investment opportunities.
The government is also working with state governments to onboard over 300 additional schemes, which will further broaden the platform’s reach.
Who Benefits from the Portal?
The expanded Krishi Nivesh platform is designed to serve a wide range of stakeholders:
- Small and marginal farmers: Can discover subsidy-linked schemes and credit support.
- FPOs and cooperatives: Gain easier access to collective investment programmes.
- Start-ups and agri-entrepreneurs: Find capital and support for innovation projects.
- Private investors: Can explore agri-sector opportunities and public-private partnerships (PPPs).
It even categorises investment opportunities by geographical spread, helping direct resources to regions that need them most.
How It Boosts Agriculture & Agri-Investment
Krishi Nivesh is closely aligned with the government’s Ease of Doing Business goals for agriculture. By centralising information and streamlining processes online, the portal helps:
- Accelerate loan approval and disbursement
- Reduce bureaucratic delays
- Increase transparency in scheme utilisation
- Attract private capital into agriculture infrastructure
For the 2025 fiscal year, the government has allocated ₹1.31 lakh crore for integrated agricultural schemes, signalling strong policy support for investment-led growth.
The Road Ahead
Beyond integrating existing programmes, the government plans to strengthen the portal with features like:
- Real-time chat support for applicants
- Analytics for tracking investment trends
- Greater inclusion of credit-linked and PPP schemes
As the platform evolves, Krishi Nivesh is expected to become a core component of India’s digital agriculture transformation, bridging the gap between farmers, capital markets, and government incentives.
