In a major push for farmer welfare and sustainable agriculture, **Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 19, 2025,
released the 21st installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, transferring over
₹18,000 crore directly into the bank accounts of nearly 9 crore farmers across India.
The fund release took place from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, where the Prime Minister was inaugurating the South India
Natural Farming Summit 2025, a three-day event focused on promoting eco-friendly, chemical-free, and regenerative
farming practices.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, launched in 2019, eligible landholding farmer families receive ₹6,000 annually, disbursed
in three equal installments of ₹2,000 through a seamless Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Addressing the gathering at the summit, the Prime Minister highlighted that this installment builds on the government’s
continued commitment to strengthening farmers’ incomes, while also advancing India’s journey toward sustainable and
climate-smart agriculture.
The South India Natural Farming Summit — attended by over 50,000 farmers, researchers, organic input suppliers and
stakeholders from states across the region — provided a platform to discuss market linkages, indigenous agricultural
technologies, and models of resilient farming suitable for future challenges.
The disbursal of the 21st PM-KISAN installment marks another significant milestone in direct income support for India’s
farmers, reinforcing both economic security and the push toward regenerative farming systems that benefit both people
and the planet.
