Pantnagar:
When knowledge begins to cross boundaries, new academic and global opportunities emerge. In a significant step towards internationalisation of agricultural education, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (GBPUAT), Pantnagar and Western Sydney University (WSU), Australia have initiated a new chapter of collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Dual Degree programmes.
The collaboration aims to facilitate Dual UG, PG and PhD programmes, joint research initiatives and academic exchange between the two universities. A key highlight shared during the interaction was the upcoming Western Sydney University campus at Noida, which is expected to greatly enhance access to international education for Indian students and strengthen Indo-Australian academic cooperation.
The programme featured a special session led by Dr. Sandhu, International Relationship Manager, Western Sydney University, who conducted a “New Door Opening Session” and elaborated on global academic pathways and opportunities available to Indian students through WSU.
The event was graced by Dr. H. J. Shiv Prasad, respected Dean of the College of Community Science, along with other faculty members and university fraternities. Their presence added academic depth and institutional support to the initiative.

A major academic interaction took place with Dr. Sindhu Sheoran (she/her), Senior Research Program Coordinator at the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, Western Sydney University, Sydney, Australia. Extensive discussions were held with faculty members and prospective dual degree students regarding Dual UG, PG and PhD programmes between WSU (Australia) and GBPUAT (India).
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the College of Agriculture, whose strong turnout ensured the success of the event. Notable participants included Nisha Rakhesh, Tracy Buckridge, Edrina Choudhary, Anita Arya, and Dr. Shweta Chaudhary, representing both institutions.
This international academic collaboration is expected to open new avenues in agricultural education, research and innovation, while equipping Indian students with global exposure and future-ready skills.
