Kerala Government Invites Agri-Businesses to Partner with Farmers Under KERA Project

Thiruvananthapuram, December 19, 2025 — The Kerala government has launched a new initiative to strengthen market linkages for farmers by inviting agri-business companies to form partnerships with Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) under the World Bank-assisted Kerala Climate Resilient Agri-Value Chain Modernization (KERA) project.

The programme, known as Productive Alliances (PA), aims to build structured and sustainable collaborations between farmer collectives and leading enterprises — including food processing units, supermarket chains, exporters, and e-commerce platforms — to ensure better price realisation and broader market access for Kerala’s agricultural produce.

As part of this effort, the government plans to establish 150 Productive Alliances across the state in three phases, with the first phase rolling out 50 alliances in northern districts such as Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, and Malappuram.

Under the KERA project, eligible companies with a minimum annual turnover of ₹10 crore can receive grant support of up to 60 % of the total alliance cost, capped at ₹2 crore, for investments and business development activities. Participants will also get three years of expert technical assistance to help ensure long-term success and sustainability.

Interested companies can apply online through the official portal before December 31, 2025, and further details are available through designated contacts. Officials say the initiative is expected to play a key role in modernising Kerala’s agri-value chains, boosting farmers’ incomes, and promoting climate-resilient agriculture throughout the state.
