Haldwani: On the occasion of World Environment Day, a tree plantation and environmental awareness program was organized at MIET Kumaun on June 5, 2026. The initiative was conducted with the support of SBI Nainital Road, Haldwani, in collaboration with Plant Orbit, with the aim of promoting environmental responsibility and encouraging youth participation in sustainable practices.
As part of the initiative, 50 saplings were planted across the institute campus by students, faculty members, SBI officials, and volunteers. The program highlighted the importance of collective efforts in creating a greener and healthier future.

The SBI Nainital Road, Haldwani team emphasized its commitment towards environmental sustainability and social responsibility. Bank officials stated that such initiatives are an important part of SBI’s ongoing efforts to contribute positively to society and inspire young individuals to actively participate in environmental conservation activities. They also encouraged students to take responsibility for protecting nature and maintaining green spaces in their communities.
Plant Orbit founder Gagan Tripathi appreciated SBI’s support towards the plantation initiative and highlighted the need for continuous environmental action beyond symbolic celebrations. He stated that awareness, community participation, and consistent plantation drives are essential for building a sustainable future.
The event was attended by MIET Kumaun Chairman Vishnu Sharan, Managing Director B.S. Bisht, Director Dr. Tarun Saxena, ACIC CEO Kamal Rawat, Chief Manager Sandeep, and the SBI team from Nainital Road Haldwani, Plant Orbit founder Gagan Tripathi, along with NSS volunteers.
Faculty members including BBA Head Tara Dutt Tiwari and BCA Head Sonam Bhandari, along with staff members and nearly 60 students, actively participated in the program. The event was coordinated successfully by NSS Coordinator Mohit Suyal and Co-coordinator Ashutosh Pandey.
The program concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to continue supporting environmental conservation efforts and promote large-scale tree plantation initiatives in the future.
Gagan Tripathi is an agripreneur, plant scientist, and author known for his work in agritech innovation and sustainable horticulture.
